True that he played the same position for England as Sir Trev and while Trev kept him out he was also the reason why Trev only got 50 odd caps... I think it was Don Revie who seemed to favour Kennedy.

Spent half his life (literally) battling Parkinson disease.. Life really doesn't make sense. Such a great footballer and decent man subjected to that. RIP.

Yeh was a good player. He played alongside our ‘bargain’ John Radford for the gooners. And was a steady Eddie for the dustbin rakers.
Shame. RIP

great player was Ray Kennedy, unfortunately didn't get many England caps due to Sir Trev.
Parkinson's is an absolute cunt of a disease, I can no longer hold a knife/fork/spoon so pretty much live on sandwiches.
My brain doesn't produce enough dopamine, the cause of Parkinson's... What part of the brain is being starved will relate to what disability(s) you get, there are over 80, Forrest Gump chocolates, come to mind.

Very sad and I didn't realise he had been suffering with Parkinson's since the mid 80's., Jesus that must have been tough. Like Michael J Fox, how do you deal with that?!
Very good player though. I'm not ashamed to say I actually liked those Liverpool teams of the 70's and early 80's , some terrific players and seemingly good men at the helm as well.

My mate is a gooner, he's devastated. Saw his first game at the library in 1969 and Kennedy was his favourite player

As a child of the 80s and deprived of any regular football I was given and cherished 101 great goals a brilliant VHS tape from the BBC.
So many highlights on it but I always remember a goal by Ray Kennedy against I think Derby where he went in on goal did a little shimmy and simply walked past the keeper and into an empty net.
I think Trevor Brooking used to always keep him out of the England team.
RIP Ray

Back in the day. When the back pass was seen as an acceptable way to play the beautiful game. Anyway..

How spooky!
I was watching a Big Match Revisited just last week and he was playing for Liverpool, I knew he had Parkinsons but I was convinced he had died so I googled him and was surprised to see him still very much alive.
Until now that is.
Great player.
Retired from England duty because Greenwood played him in the wrong position, some of his teammates said he played hard and he lived hard! Bit of a ladies man apparently.
Another one from my childhood gone.
